On CyberScouting a List of Philippine Hospitals

Bumming around has lots of its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the yays would be getting up late and sleeping even later, not stressing about anything at all and getting to surf the net all day long. The nays, however, would include mountains of household chores and ironically, death by boredom.

Lately, since passing the June 2009 NLE I've been looking for hospitals that would accommodate fresh graduates like myself for various trainings, seminars and volunteer work. Unfortunately, only a handful of sites I've been to offered useful information about what I am looking for.

I did, though, found a couple of insightful blogs that helped me envision my life as an unemployed registered nurse desperate for work. The countless hospital-hopping armed with resumes and 2x2 pictures, not to mention the numerous trainings, seminars and their fees did not boost my confidence in the future but did prepare me for the worst.

Here I list those sites I've been to and other additional information in case anybody needed it.

Philippine General Hospital
Taft Avenue Manila
http://www.pgh.gov.ph/
(Nursing Training Division can be found HERE)

St. Luke's Medical Center

(632) 723-0101 | (632) 723-0301
E-mail: info@stluke.com.ph
http://www.stluke.com.ph/
(Not much information. Can't even find the Nursing Division Page.)

Philippine Heart Center
East Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines 1100
Tels.: (632) 925-2401 to 50
http://www.phc.gov.ph/
(Very informative site especially for Registered Nurses interested in trainings and seminars. Click on the link for schedules and requirements.)

* Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner Program (CVNP)
* Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy Training (CRRT)
* Critical Care Course
* I.V. Therapy Updates
* Intravenous Therapy Training Program
* Revisiting Essential Nursing Competencies for Patient Care: A Nursing Re-entry Program
* The Fundamentals of Nursing Documentation

National Kidney and Transplant Institute
East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City 1100, Philippines
http://www.nkti.gov.ph/
(Another unhelpful site for new nurses. Or maybe I just didn't see the information posted somewhere.)

The Medical City
Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City, Metro Manila Philippines.
Tel. nos. (632) 635-6789, (632) 631-86-26
Email us: mail@medicalcity.com.ph
http://www.themedicalcity.com/
(Yet another one. Maybe the only thing there is to do is to spend time, money and effort into visiting these hospitals personally. A feat I'm not looking forward on doing. )

So that's about it for the day. Those are my top hospitals including Cardinal Santos Medical Center but I couldn't find an official site for the institution. Hopefully, doors will open and contacts will come through.

I'm also considering hospitals near our house but I have to visit those personally to get information. Maybe, tertiary hospitals are not all they're psyched up to be and it would be better to stay close to home.

I'll never know 'till I try it out.
